After a long search I finally found another motor for the SS! I picked up a '74 Johnson 115 in really good shape. I bought it off a old timer who purchased the motor brand new in '75. The hood needs a re paint and there is the typical inch or so missing from the skeg, but aside from that she runs like a top, shifts like it should and looks very well taken care of. This motor also has electric choke, which my 125 didnt have, big plus!! Also came with the controls as well. Here are a few pics So in the last week I accuried PTT and a new motor for right around $400. Id say its been a fairly good week!

The best so far is 39 on the GPS with a lot left in the throttle. Water conditions wouldnt allow anything faster. My friend, the PO, says 45+ on his GPS. I would be inclined to believe him in the right conditions as I was only about 3/4 on the stick when I had her up to 39. Either way, the 125 is plenty fast, if not too fast for the old tinny.
