Hello Fellow OMC owners. I am new to this forum so I didn't know ho to start a new discussion so I will build off this one. I have a 1987 OMC 4.3 liter with a Cobra outdrive and have a problem with the trim coming up. It goes down perfectly fine but up is a different story. At the start of last season, before it went into the water I had the same problem but when I put it in the water it worked. I used it all year without a problem. Took it out this weekend to winterize it and again the up will not work. If I continue to push the up buttom on the shift handle I hear a clicking. If I push it enough times it will work but that is probably 1 in 30 pushes. I cleaned all connections, opened up shift handle and the wires look good. Does anyone know what can be the problem? If the selenoid is bad will it still click? Any help would be great.

BarbeeLakeMan - Welcome aboard.

Cobra system is completely different than what I have. I don't know much about it. Go into the OMC forum and at the top left there should be a red button for NEW POST. You'll get a lot more help that way.

Start with pullin', 'n cleanin' to shiny metal clean, All the wirin' connections from the battery, to the pump motor,...

If your hearing a click when you hit the switch.The switch is good.
Test light.Check for power across the lugs on the UP solenoid as someone activates the switch.
If you have power through both posts of the solenoid and the motor works one way.The up solenoid is probably bad.
You sure the battery's hot?
The connections good.Unhook them and sandpaper the connections.
There might be a fuse in the system?

Fluid level? Mine was a little low, and acted the same way. Filled it up and been okay so far.
