I know this thread is really old but I found it when I asked the same question. Here's what I found. Chart Plotter

Re: On Line Chartplotter??

Not sure how handy this is in actual practice. First, it isn't a true nautical chart. I zoomed in on my home waters and surprise! no channel markers or depth readings. So, if I'm trying to plot a course I can't create my waypoints according to where the existing channels are.

Second (and not really a surprise), I don't see any way to dl a plotted course. With my (unfortunately discontinued by Navionics) Navionics PC charting software I can create a route, dl it in .GPX format to an SD card, and upload that card to my Lowrance chartplotter.

Thanks for sharing, though. Always good to keep an eye out for this kind of stuff.

I have Garmin Bluechart Vision on my chart plotter. Point to destination, click, auto-routing in progress...........follow the big pink line to your destination.

Re: On Line Chartplotter??

Its helpfull for some things. I use it to see how far a trip is. My friends and I have been talking about doing an Oak Island to Beuford run via the ICW. It tells me that is around 110 miles each way. Makes it a bit easier to plan a long trip. Now that I know its 110 miles I need to plan for 2-3 fill ups and it would take about 6 hours.

This one was better because it has the NOAA maps overlaid on google earth but I guess google changed their API and its down.

How big is your tank? I could get darn near down and back on a "tank" full of gas

dingbat, the express cruisers don't have big tanks. They're made for overnights and day tripps, not long offshore excursions. I'll bet agallant's 255 holds 60-70 gallons. My 27' holds 110 (100 usable).

In contrast, my 21' Pro-Line WAC held 90 gallons.

(I just looked up the 255 CR. Holds 70 gallons total)

Autorouting? It has the logic to follow a route, keeping to deep water and such? That'd be pretty cool.

You input your keel depth and it's routes from there.

It's only as accurate as your chart, but it beats the heck out of using multiple way points to plot a course.

That's all? I have 147 gallon capacity on mine. Pretty easy to run 100-110 miles a day just fishing in the Bay.
