I’m well aware of the superstition of changing a boat’s name, but I can’t find any signs this boat ever had one. At least that was physically attached to it.

What is the common wisdom in these cases? Is it possible it never got one because it’s “just” an 18’ bowrider? I’m not a hugely superstitious person but I also am not on fire to put a name on her. (At least one hasn’t occurred to me yet.)

I didn't go quite that elaborate with naming Riff Raft but I DID have some of the needed facilities for the ensuing orgy that likely would have started, and being as I am the Captain I would have had to supervise everyone's safety (in other words, more fun to watch sober LOL)

If the boat did not previously have a name, then have at it. If you are renaming, do the ceremonial stuff for peace of mind.

I'll be re-naming my sailboat when it is ready for launching.

A true calling of a boat is if the current name 'fits' . My new-2-me boat was/is "One2Many". We kept the name :ROFLMAO:

On a hot day the ceremony is a welcome treat.------A bit of humour and adult beverages.
Yeah the hot day would be a given but sadly (sort of) here in America the "topless" part would likely be frowned upon at the local public marina or launch ramp. It wouldn't bother me at all that the Ladies were showing off some of their pride and joys LOL

I chose the name "Riff Raft" as a spin on my always having had long hair and a beard, the "Handyman" on Rocky Horror, and AC/DCs song back before Bon Scott passed away
