Re: LED STRIP LIGHTING (Ins and outs info)

I have read all of the posts on this topic and I guess I am still somewhat confused.

I have a 22 foot pontoon boat. I am wanting to install LED lights under the seat area that will light up the floor area. I may change my mind and just install them in the corners seat section areas of the pontoon. Will not be putting any under the boat. I originally was going the single color route but you all have convinced me to go the Multi Color route.

What exactly do I need to buy to make this work? I ask because the kits I see seem to be AC powered units and I will be wiring up from my boat battery (12V). Also, they do not include the connectors I will need. I will install in 3 sections. The back section and both front sections and need connectors long enough to reach each sectioned LED strip.

You all know your stuff on this subject and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I am good at wiring and all so just having a full understanding of what all I will need and the best place to buy them will help immensely.

Appreciate any help!

You can find these on ebay for great prices ($20 - $30) in the US. Search for "5M 5050 RGB LED Waterproof Strip Light 300 LED +44 Key IR Controller". The 5 meter RGB strips are 12volt; so you can wire these direct into your accessory system. I recommend a 7-10a fuse in-line. Since you know about wiring, you can split the 4 conductor circuit to each area you want to light with small gauge wiring. Once you have this in your hands, I'm sure you will see how easy and simple it is. Some people use the preformed cables with the 4 conductor ends, but they can prove to be a maintenance issue due to all the vibration and bouncing around that our boats are subjected to. I prefer soldering all of the connections and sealing them with heat shrink or silicone sealant.
I'm presently installing these onto my cruiser.
