Do I ream the through hull holes and put some new 4200 on the bolts or what?
I got my old outboard back after getting a couple of broken bolts removed from the lower unit at the machine shop and am re-installing it on the transom (I didn't pick up the 70HP I was considering or get a new 50HP yet).
I have the steering rod in and motor bracket lined up with the bolt holes, but not sure about re-sealing the transom bolt holes. When I removed the bolts, it looked like a lot of old sealer/caulk came out with them, same thing again whene I shoved them back in.
I was hoping to remove one at a time and seal each hole as I go so as to keep everything lined up, but can move the outboard and get better access to the holes if needed.
My hull doesn't have a bilge drain below the deck (foam bonded two-piece construction like a whaler) so I want to make sure this thing is sealed correctly.
