Did you ever find out how to position the rod. I took mine apart as the throttle only button wouldn't go in easily any more and now
I don't know how to re-install it.

Must have tried to hyjack an old thread and the moderator move you, or something didn't make it in your posting.
The throttle only button on most controlls is removed and installed by moving the throttle handle forward, then insert or remove the button.

If this didn't answer the question give us a bit more info
