Raytheon RN300 GPS

I Have recently aquired this unit and have the following problems it takes forever to get a fix and can only get 3 satellites when I connect four then I get a fix this unit has done this only once the version of this unit is 2.28 can anybody give me some help, Does anyone have a diagram to connect a gps receiver module to the nmea input.Is there any software anyplace to update the version.

Not familiar with that unit, Henri, but it sure sounds like an antenna problem to me.

Internal or external antenna? Open to the sky?

It is an external antenna and the lead wire is quite long and that might be part of the problem age and humidity can play a number on coax cables.
