Hello all. I just got a raymarine C80 radar/GPS/findfinder. It was brand new (box never opened) but it was from 2004 (from what the manual says). However it does not have a radar antenna. I don't know where the serial numbers are located. I found a few that goals follows; CE sticker on back says EO2020, 1150135.. Then another number that says "CE0191". I'm looking for the correct radar antenna. Not sure what KW I need. I really would like to find an open array one if compatible. Could someone tell me what radar antenna's would work with it? If you need any other information I will try and find it in the box. I'm sorry if this question has been previously asked. Thank you for your help!

In radomes, the RD218 (2KW, 18") or RD424 (4KW, 24") domes will work...but you have to find one for sale, as they have been discontinued for quite some time. Open array? Good luck...

But open arrays are compatible? Any special model? Thanks

Yes Mike, that would work. I would say that there is an open array scanner that is compatable with the C80, but the majority of people who added radar to that unit went the radome route. See if I can find an open array model...

Mike, here is the install manual for the C80, dated 2006 (same thing)...http://www.uchimata.fr/maintenance/dir_upload/partner/4/docs/Guide Installation Series C.pdf

Note on pg. 13, it shows a scanner compatability chart based on S/N. From the looks of it, your C80 would require an upgrade to support a 4KW open array...

Thank you for helping! I don't want to get into upgrades and such. I just want a plu-and-play so I think I will just got with a radome. Is 500 a good price for that radome? Or should I keep looking? If i bought the one i listed up top, that would just plug and play, correct? Thanks again

Re: Raymarine c80 radar antenna help???

I have spoken with someone else and showed them that Craigslist ad. They say the serial number has to be right to work with my c80. I also found another radome with the serial number 0300094. I'm new to this radar thing, so please forgive me for second guessing. I'd hate to waste money. This should be able to plug right into the c80 and run fine right? Thanks

Mike, any RD218 or RD424 radome will plug right in and work with your C80. And it is plug and play, the radome receives power from the C80. Running the cable through the t-top legs is a real bear though, I've done a bunch of these. Have you got a plan? Or do you have an arch?

Yes, I've been talking back and forth. He won't go below 450 when I spoke to him earlier. Im going to try 350 anyway.

Yes I have a radar arch on my bridge so it won't be too bad at all.

$400. If he wants it gone, you'll get it. The C80 can be stand alone, so it's not like he's breaking up a set...

Re: Raymarine c80 radar antenna help???

So the good news is, I bought the radome (which looks to be in excellent shape). The bad news is, the guy screwed me on the cable. So I am on the hunt for one of those next!! Could someone tell me what cable I'm looking for? What years and such are applicable? I'm going back to the marine consignment tomorrow. Hopefully I can get one for a reasonable price (after I know what I'm buying) pictures are appreciated! Thanks again for all of your help!
