I have 270 hours on my Volvo V6 4.3 GL-D and the raw water pump has failed 4 times. Sometimes its the impeller, sometimes its the seal. How long are the raw water pumps supposed to last? I have the back seat in my Chaparral set up so I can take it out to work on the water pump.

They should last a lot londer than that. But I have no idea what your water/boating environment looks like. Nor do we know your boating habits. If you spend a lot of time in sandy, shallow areas, you could be ingesting lots of debris and ruining the pump.
That said, the Illinois River where I boat is shallow, sandy, and I spent lots of time in it, (I put 650 hours on my boat in 8 summers) and I only replaced the impeller on my Bravo twice. And once wasn't necessary.

I don't know either, alot of our coustomers here have the same problem.I think it's from running in the shallow rivers around Baltimore.alot of members are going to disagree with me but i have found that installing a true hull fitting for the water intake works well.seems less likley to suck up the gunk.

Well, if they do disagree with you, they are arguing against the laws of physics, not against you! :)
