raw water cooled conversion

I hate to belabor this cooling question but I hate the idea of trying to cool things with salt water in such a direct way. It sounds like the risers and exhausts need to be replaced about every 3-4 years anyway.(I be talking about two 5.o liter mercrusier here; we be rebuilding them). I've read about some kind of conversion to a heat exchanger system for around $500 apiece. Anybody have any experience with this? Sounds like a great idea.

Re: raw water cooled conversion

On FWC'ing or raw water cooling, the risers are still cooled by whatever water you are floating in. The only thing freshwater cooling touches is the engine block and in some installations the exhaust manifold. The risers are always raw water cooled due to the exhaust gasses having to be cooled. Sorry, its the nature of the beast.
