I have a 1973 Merc 9.8 110 outboard. It was submerged in a recent flood, but we got it out and to the mechanic pronto.
It is actually running pretty well except for this occasional rattling noise. It sounds like when you suck up a paper clip or tack in the vacuum cleaner. It is not consistent and does not seem connected to any loss of power or other issues.
I took off the cowling and didnt see anything unusual.
The mechanic didnt seem too concerned but thought I would run it by this crowd. Any ideas?
