For 5 years now, each mid October, we have taken a troop of Boy Scouts to Tillamook Bay for crab fishing. There was no fishing license required to to this.<br /><br />This year the Oregon legislature has authorized a licence for crab fishing. Now we have to pay $9.00, per 14 y/o or older, occupant of the boat for an afternoon of crab fishing. On top of the fishing fee, we are already paying for food, camping and of course the boating expenses.<br /><br />All because of the fiscal desperation of a Socialist state government. It's getting to the point where you cannot even take a group of young boys for an outing that does not cost an arm and a leg. They used to even let Boy Scouts camp for free. A group that used to be viewed as a character building endeavor for future citizens of these United States. <br /><br />Now Boy Scouts have become nothing more than a radical group of God loving bigots and homophobes.

i think you hit on it - the name has news stories attributed to it. its now dirty laundry. so you gotta fight all over again. it will be a good fight, and i think you will win. good luck. i bet alot more people here are able to relate than you imagine. i developed my spelunking skills while in the boyscouts... i was interested, then they made it possible.

Welcome to my nightmare Boomyal!<br />I'd take it as far as you can with the Boy Scouts. That is simply outrageous for your kids.<br /><br />Oregon needs to be renamed to "The people's republic of Oregon"<br />I'm counting the days to get the heck outta dodge...<br /><br />I've just about given up on all the hunting and fishing here. You're right... getting too expensive. Especially with a family.<br /><br />You out-of-towners really take a beating too.<br />I can't imagine why someone from out of town would want to spend that much on a hunting tag in Oregon. Sure, we have some nice Elk, Mule deer, and salmon but I think you would get far better results in other states. (IMO)<br /><br /><br />The numbers are staggering of how much money the ODFW is raking in... And what do we get in return? HIGHER FEES, MORE RULES, LESS ANIMALS.<br /><br />They have poor management. They were even busted a few years ago for using "inside information" to gain an advantage over the rest of us on controlled hunting opportunities.<br />I don't remember the whole deal, but basically it was a way to screw the rest of us.<br /><br />I pretty much tossed the towel in after that.<br />My friends and I have been trying to get controlled tags for a few particular areas for years, and had no success... Geee I wonder why?<br /><br /><br />I was crunching numbers for the controlled hunt tags alone earlier this year, and the amount of money they are getting is unreal.<br /><br />Although I've always played by the rules, I can see why some people don't. I don't blame them a bit for not buying a license or tag, etc...<br /><br />You're better off to save your money you'd normally spend here and put it toward a hunt you will remember like Alaska or Colorado, or even New Mexico (I hear their Mulies are enormous).<br /><br /><br />H.

Because of their brave stand I have taken what used to be my donation to the United Way and given it to the Boy Scouts. The United Way no longer deserves your consideration let lone your dollars.<br /><br />Liberal do gooders, do nobody any good!!!

Here is another injustice for you. <br /><br />In North Idaho at Coeur d'Alene Lake a few years back the local Indian Tribe sued to gain rights to ownership of the bottom half of the lake that was in their reservation. <br /><br />Now, if you want to fish in the lower half of the lake not only do you have to buy an Idaho State fishing license but on top of that you also must purchase a license from the tribe at 25 bucks a pop. <br /><br />That burns me up way more than the complaint about the crab license.
