I live in Santa Barbara. The Channel Islands are 21 miles off shore. I am considering the idea of piloting my 1997 Sanger DX II out there one very calm day, just to say I did it. My biggest question to consider before ever committing to this is "what is the range that my boat can travel on a full tank". I would be travelling at 30-40 MPH average. Medium load in the boat (2 persons, some light gear). If the boat had the range, I would plan safely with reserve gas, radios, food, warmth, etc. Anybody had experience in long range boating, or know how to estimate range of a DX II ??? Any help appreciated.
