I was hoping someone could give me an idea on what I can expect the mpg to be. I have a 1995 120hp evinrude. What is the top speed. Also the former owner thought it had a 40 gallon fuel tank but I thought it was closer to 60. I also have to get an anchor...any suggestions?

I can not find a manual so any info you have would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

For old 2 stroke outboards you can get a good idea of the MPG at full throttle by taking the HP rating and shifting the decimal place, ie 120 HP would get about 1.2mpg at full throttle.

I have the same boat and same year. I don't know what the tank capacity is, either, but I suspect 40.

Thanks! Assuming you are up on plane does the mileage go up as you throttle back?

The reason I asked about the tank capacity is that I thought it was 40 but the attendant wasn"t paying attention (I was also distracted by a bikini clad boater) and put in 45 gallons. I was worried that there might be a leak or something but I couldn't find anything. Then when I was online I looked up the specs on a new 1900 and it has a 60 gal. tank. So I am hoping it is 60.

Thanks again. If I find out I will post it.

Yes. I usually run around 3K rpms. That's about 25 mph on my rig and about the slowest I can go and still plane. I'd guess I get about 2-3 mpg at that speed. It's hard for me to get straight range numbers because I'm always running a combination of planing and idling, due to the slow speed zones down here in South Florida. I'd probably consider 100 miles to be a good range number.

Yeah, it does feel like it holds more than 40 but doesn't seem like 60. I wonder if its a 50 (even though there is no mention of such a size on the KW web site).

Sorry it took so long to reply. Thanks for your help. I have been doing some research but have not been able to confirm the tank size. I will keep looking.

Click the link here http://keywestboatsinc.com/faq/page/4 to go to the FAQ section on the Key West Boats web site regarding fuel tank sizes. The 1900 has always had a 60 gallon tank. Mileage figures vary greatly but the tank size is always the same.

I saw that too but I'd say there is no way my 1900DC has a 60 gallon tank. Although it probably really does and the fuel sender is just set to look empty at 1/3rd tank.

If you've got one of those old swing arm floats on your sender it can be adjusted fairly easy. Pull it out and bend the arm as needed. I was selling those boats new at a dealership in '94. Trust me, they hold 60 gallons when they are empty.I always thought that was a big tank for that boat but outboards were thirsty in those days and some folks thought that boat was enough to go way offshore. I never heard of any of them not making it back though.

My 1900 CC has a 60 gal tank. I pulled the label off the tank while I had
the console off for tank cleaning.
I can not remember where I saw it but mine was listed as having a 50 gal
tank in a set of specs.
Also mine will show empty when I have 20 gal. still in it
