I have a 2007 centurion with a 350 mercruiser magnum. I ran out of gas and filled it back up but the engine will not start. I checked the fuel pump, it still works, i refilled the fuelwater separator and have tried to get all the air out of the line with the air valve stem on top of the engine also checked the inline fuel filter and it was clean. I am able to get the engine to sputter for 2 or so seconds before cutting out. If anyone has any advice please let me know. Thanks

How did you check the fuel pump?

I took off the fuel line off the engine side of the fuel pump and turned the key to prime and the fuel pump was spitting out gas. I am not sure if the fuel pump is able to prime but not feeding the engine gas afterwards. Not exactly sure how to check that or what to look for.

...and don't forget that most engines have a final fuel strainer/filter at the inlet port of the carb. The inlet fuel line must be removed to access it.
Having run completely out of gas, the entire fuel system may be contaminated with the crud/water that was lying in the bottom of the tank. Additionally, to completely refill the fuel supply line by cranking the engine, it will take quite a few cycles of the engine to prime the system. Perhaps elevating the bow will help.

... and you're positive you ran out of gas, right? I was just thinking of anything else that could have gone wrong - like a pick-up line malfunction.

Fuel tamk anti siphon valve stuck.

That valve IS the outlet to the tank.

I was thinking that possible the high pressure fuel pump may not be creating the needed pressure. How much pressure should be on the valve stem on top of the engine. When i press it in, only a very small amount of fuel or air comes out. How much fuel should be coming out of the valve stem?

No pump can create pressure or volume if there is no fuel to pump.
