Raleigh, NC Area anyone?

Anyone here near Raleigh, NC and do any fishing on the lakes around here? I am located in Willow Springs myself.

When I lived in Durham I used to fish the Chapel Hill reservoir. That was in the early 60s.

At that time it was a no-engines lake. Only electric and hand propulsion, no alcohol, leave your license with the caretaker and pick it up when you came out, use their boats only. They counted, weighed and measured any fish you brought out. I once kept 5 bluegills that measured within a half inch of ten inches, the string weighed 8lb. They also counted any bottles, bags or cans you had when you went in and when you came out.

Have no idea what the rules may be now, but it is worth checking out.

Dang.....8lbs for 5 bluegills?:^o I'd be proud to have a limit of bass the goes 8lbs on the Ohio river. Matter of fact, I'd be winning a lot of tournaments with that kind of weight on the Ohio.

Best bed of bull 'gills I ever found, Gonfishie. Caught them all in about 18" of water on a #10 black gnat trailed about 10" behind a small bass popper. Fly rod, of course.

One of those peak days you remember forever.

Im a damm yankee, Here in raleigh, I live on a small lake near the airport.

the boys are just getting old enough to go out fishing in the boat for a day.

We do falls lake and of course our own 18acre lake.

JB that resevoir is now off limits to all activity.

I want to go striper fishin up at the big kerr lake, thats my goal this year.

Hey Tomato! I just moved to this area from Virginia Beach. Did a lot of striper fishing out in the ocean just trolling back and forth on my step fathers boat. Dont know the first thing to catching stripers in fresh water

But if you want to get together and go one day, let me know. I just bought a 17' bass boat but she aint up and running yet. Bought her as a project and she is definitely a project. Im learning slowly
