Tried to find a answer in a past forum search but came up empty. I have a trailer that I am modifying to fit my 21 ft larson. The trailer is plenty big enough but I need to raise my bunks about 2 inches for the boat to clear the crossmembers / axle ect. The bunk brakets are welded on and I currently use a small piece of 2x6 to use as a spacer between the bracket and bunk. The problem is the 2 x 6 has already began to spit. Is there anything that would worked better. I dont want to put in new brackets because the trailer fits the boat great. I hate to say it but cheap and easy are priorities. thanks in advance

Use a 2X6 the same size as the original bunk board, that is one bunk board on top of another.

Get your yourself a short length of steel the same width and thickness, has the current bunk supports, cut steel bar the same length plus the amount of height you need, drill two 5/8 inch holes, one near bottom one near top of original bunk support through the steel bar and bunk support, bolt together using grade8 or 9 bolts with washers and locknuts and secure the bunk boards, or you can get the bracket extensions welded on.

Do you think counter sinking a couple of bolts through the top of the bunk and coming out the bottom end of the steel to keep it a single unit would be a good idea. I only need it for the rear end of the trailer. The bunks cradle the hull all the way up past the windshield, Its just the rear thats giving me a problem.

The Bunks on my trailer are fixed to the supports in the manner you describe, seems to work fine.
