I am just outside of Dallas and since Thursday we have had over 13 inches of rain... and it is still coming down!!!!!!!

I really wanted to hit this lake last weekend, and this weekend is out due to family . I am starting to realize that she might be "retired for the season"

I guess it is time to start my rebuild thread.

Goals for the winter

New Transom (Deck was done last winter)
Rip out the carpet and replace with Durabak
Replace the 305 with a stout 350
Put it all back together.

I got the money all set aside, i just need to get off my but and start work. Maybe in two weeks.

The weather here is weird in Texas and after October we could have a freeze at any time. Then it goes right back to 80 degrees. I really need to get cracking on the repairs.

Take her out in the rain for one more ride ;)

Also, I learned something from your thread....Durabak!!!!!

I have a 91 bayliner capri and the carpet is toast not to mention i just don't want carpet....too high maintenance.

Have you used this before and if so, what were the results?

Ok go ahead and winterize it!! Your right, No more boating this season for you!! Are you NUTS?? I wish I could fix my boat right now, I would still be out in her as often as I could, Even though the water would be too cold the scenery is still awsome in the fall and I was looking forward to it and can't:(, I wish my boat was fixed and winterize it late Oct early Nov, weather permitting.

I think alot of you folks from the north do not understand. If it is not over 90 degrees in TX we consider that winter and start to hibernate..........anyway frisco we are going to grapevine on friday afternoon. see you then.

Those of us south of Waco are praising the rain, my local lake is still almost 8' below normal because of the draught we been in, so send all your Dallas rains our way.

I figger I will make up the lost boating time next weekend, we should be in the high 80s through October. :D

I somehow have trouble having any sympathy for someone in Texas complaining about rain.

Love you're Texas Maid. Used to have a '64 15' tradewinds. Loved it.

Re: Rain Rain go away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our rainfall is feast or famine here in Texas. If we get all of our rain now, by Spring the lakes will be low again. There are still some suffering parts of Texas, but this rain has helped a lot...and more forecast.

Texas is considered a year-round boating state. Insurance companies insure boats on a seasonal theory. When living in the Mid Atlantic region, one could buy 6 months storage and 6 months seasonal use which reduced the rates. At one time, while living in Amarillo in the 70's, I insured that way also. As far as I know, and i have asked, insurance companies consider Texas as a perpetual 12 month boating season state.
