I was thinking about getting a radio to install in my boat. does anyone know if it affects your fishing? Does it scare fish to hear a radio? Just wondering.

Absolutely, fish hate rap music and country music . . . Just a known fact among the pro's

Oh ya, also "any" song by Barbara Streisand . . . Fish hate her too, along with her Moron husband :D

Just be aware that sound travels REALLY well over water. Watch your volume if there are any other fishermen within sight....they may be armed! ;-)

Sound not only travels well over water, it also travels really well through water. Speakers mounted in the boat are going to transfer that sound much more readily than say a portable radio would.

I've had boats with radios and without. Frankly, if I want to fish and listen to the radio I use a Walkman or music through an iPod.

Yea i always wondered that myself. One time on my aluminum i had a small radio sitting on the middle aluminum seat and i didnt catch a damn thing for about 3 hours. I turned it off and i started catching. From then on i had a old pillow under my front deck and i used that under the radio if i wanted to hear the race or something. Dont turn it up loud at all. And dont have any boat mounted speakers, especially if your fishing calm shallow water.
