My radio or speakers on the left side pop and squeel. Anyboby experience this?

Somebody told me that the radio is actually under the dash in this truck. The controls in the dash are just that, controls.

Not sure if this is a radio or speaker problem.

Not sure about your model of truck. As a general rule, speakers that are "blown" will rattle and sound distorted, a bad speaker cannot make it's own noise such as squealing, that would indicate a bad head unit or amplifier.
Some of the factory systems have an amplifier module mounted on the back of each speaker, some were self contained (radio, amp, everything in one box) and others had the controlls in the dash and all of the electronics in a module under the dash, or under the seat.

your best bet is to put an aftermarket radio and speakers in your truck it will be cheaper than trying to fix or replace the factory one

When you buy your after market radio, you can also buy a harness which will make installing the radio a snap. You might need an adapter to plug the attenna into, and you can get face plate adapters and brackets to hold the 'din' sized radios in the larger GM hole.

I've done this process a lot of times. Takes about an hour to install a different radio once you get the process down.

enjoy it

fp

Update-
I ran across this place on the web. They were able to fix me up for a total of $85.00! I had the part 2 days later, I about fell over when it arrived so soon! Now, I still have a stock radio. I highly recommend these folks!

I had been looking at the free install deals, even with a $99 radio/cd player once the extras are added in it got too expensive for this 'ol truck.

http://mnrelectronics.com/
