Re: Radial or Bias?
Realgun,
Let me add my two cents worth; I have trailered boats since 1962, and have this to say about tires for trailers:
1. Make sure that you buy TRAILER TIRES and not automobile tires
2. Bias tires function quite well and are a little cheaper than radial tires. When they sit up for a while, they tend to hold their flattened shape on one side until you run down the road and warm them up. In a turn they do not hug the ground as much as radial, and therefore will not wear as rapidly as radial if you do trailer often.
3. Radial tires hug the road better, which may be an advantage if you trailer in wet conditions often. Your trailer will be slightly lower to the gound with radials. If you have a low center structure on your trailer, then you may be hitting high points on the road with radials.
4. If your trailer manufacturer recommends bias tires, then stick with them.
Good luck, be safe!
