Radar ???

I want to install a radar unit in the future. I have a Lowrance X-111 hd which has a provision for radar.
: Is radar biologically safe: will it harm those in proximity? I know it is a great navigational aid, and it
will show me where the bird action is = fish action. The analog unit that I can plug into my 111, is around 1k.
Are the digital units safer to the user or way worth the xtra cash?

Radar may cause eye damage if your eyes are close enough to the antenna and within the radar beam. Mounting instructions will caution against mounting the unit at eye level. As long as you have a safe mounting location, the hazard factor is not an issue. The better radars cost more money. Search the various manufacturers websites for an education. Don't count on finding birds with anything but the large open array antennas.
