Radar mounting options

I recently picked up my newest boat, Bayliner 2655 and would like to add a radar system. I've looked into the towers but unfortunately it would sit too tall. I'm currently at 12' with my enclosed canvas on the trailer. Is it possible to mount the radome on the bow railing or inside the canvas and still function correctly?

The short answer is no….

When mounting a radar, the minimum safe height is a primary consideration to keep the crew and passengers aboard the boat safe. The radar's horizontal beamwidth should be above head height. The minimum recommended height is 8' feet above the deck.
