Our 1989 arrowglass I/O boat is due for a new steering cable. The old one that was replaced some 15years ago broke last week while on the water thankfully i was close to the launch and was able to use the trolling motor to get in. But question I'm having is since it's a rack and pinion system it was a detmar by looking at the cable will a new teleflex fit right in as in gears matching up to the helm control or will that have to be replaced. I removed the old cable but my dad has yet to get a new one.

Ya its time to update to new Teleflex NFB system, they are alot better and I don't know that you will be able to find a cable for the ole one anymore.

As Bondo said, it is only a bit more and they really are alot better.

Get a zero feed back while you are at it. Zero feedback means that, under normal circumstances, you can turn loose of the helm and the boat will maintain it's present course.

Teleflex is a super company with super products, great prices for what you get, and courteous/helpful sales/customer service personnel.

Treated me like a king.
