SCAATY, That looks like a 70's Sidewinder with an Merc 850 on it. Clearly not a race boat.

We need to remember what P.T. Barnum said: "There is a sucker born every minute"

Looks like Sidewider to me too. If it had a jacked XS150 SS on it, I been on it in a second! I just bought ANOTHER boat myself...I post it in a new thread...going back to my roots on this one .

I'll bet it needed that tail just to get up on plane. And that's probably just about all the faster it will go with that 80/85. But if you live on a 10Hp lake, it certainly would qualify as a race boat. ;)

Seller should sell motor separate from boat. Would sell easier that way and get more $$$. That reminds me of a Ford Mustang with a 4-cylinder. What's the point? :p

But the seller is sorta right. It would be rare for a boater to consider that a race boat. He must've run out of allotted description space and had to leave out a few words. :D

Hey Scaaty, used to have one of them, it's a Marlin ours had a 115. Didn't know it would qualify as a rade boat kids had a lot of fun with it. About 45 in a 8" chop most A runabouts with a KG-4 would blow it in the weeds. Did you ever see so many much junk pasted of for vintage, collectable or race equipment as they do on the net

YEAH! A Marlin! A friend had one moons ago. Only an inboard Jet. Ran pretty good, but the high gunwale thingys, well, like sitting in a bathtub with the water outside instead!

Had a boat traded in once with one of those old 50Hp V-4 Johnsons. Owner put 90 on the hood because he figured that he nearly doubled the horsepower by boring it to the max piston size. :p
