Wifes car is leaking from what I think is the water pump. It only does it when it is real cold. And lately it has been going below freezing. There is always a puddle of anti-freeze under her car when she starts it up. Once it is warm it doesn't leak.

Has anyone changed one of these? If so how hard is it and about how long should it take. I don't have a manuel on it yet but probably will get one. It has the V-6 in it. Thanks...

Look to the radiator for the leak...I replaced mine last year due to the exact same thing(cold-leak,warm-noleak). Was told gaskets in our new (cheap) radiators go bad. Bettcha I'm right...scope out the source of the leak, especially look along the sides dripping down. May even have to remove the shroud to find.

My S10 had the same thing wrong with it, the tank is not metal and had a crack in it. So I agree look to the radiator!

Its not coming from the radiator, got underneath, coming from somewhere around the vibration/harmonic balancer. Its to far back to be the radiator.

SS, there is always a relief hole in the water pump just in back of the pulley. When this starts leaking, it lets you know the bearing seals are going bad. Look there to see if it leaks. Usually, you have a slow drip. when it sits, then you can see puddle depending on how long it has sat. I would check to make sure this is where the leak is. Sorry I can not help you on the repair time and difficulty, I have changed a lot of water pumps but never on a Chrysler. Good Luck.

My daughter just replaced it on same car model, she has a 3.4l

Looks like you have to remove radiator, belts, front engine plate and timing belt.

It's not that bad, just a pain to get to. REMEMBER DON'T TURN MOTOR WHILE TIMING BELT IS OFF, it will be much more work to re-time motor.

I think I will try some water pump sealer first to see if that takes care of it. This is the only problem I have had with this 3.5. It does run great. It gives my wife white nuckles big time! :D
