After graduating college in mid December until late last week our son was living with us again. He left us again this past Friday to attend Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning,Georgia.

We just might have a Lifer in our future.

I,for one,am extremely proud.

It is still lonely here,though.

Its always a great feeling to see the young ones starting to achieve in life.
congrats.
With your other posts, you have had your butt kinda kicked in the work place recently.
CHIN UP, there will be something out there for you, but you may have to start thinking outside of the box/comfort zone. diversifying is alot like yuker/hearts sluff a couple of times then come back with the trump cards.
I hope that made sense. :)

Home does get empty when the children move on. We have 5 grown up children and a house that seems to echo without them.
Look forward to the visits. It gets easier as time passes.
You are right to be proud. Wishing him all the best.

funny thing about kids in the military, you're as proud as can be that they joined but you hardly ever get to see them because they're gone doing their deal.

tell him thanks from all of us.
and know there are a lot of us that know your feelings, it gets easier.

Congrats to your son!

I don't have a son of my own (two daughters), but did help my young neighbor get the process started for him to enlist in the USAF. He should be going down to sign up next week, then off to basic after he graduates in June.

Tasha was getting into the chair, and he jumped under her. that is my recliner, Tasha does not like Shadow, in my chair, he gets Sylvia's chair. she was showing her distaste. it is the first time they have done this.

I know the feeling, my oldest in Japan, for a job, she a 09 grad of UCLA in foreign studies - Im thinking she will stay there, course her bf is japanese and she was/is always the pioneer :), second girl may move closer to here for college transfer, and could visit(2 hr drive), and thank God for my son Karl, 11 and here like at least 50%(yes two exes), but hey go enjoy life, FISH!!!, BOAT! Im looking fwd to owning a house real soon, and i dont want to buy too big as I know son will have his interests that pull him away from home, in a FEW years. Kids usually "come back" when they want, my phone calls from girls more infrequent, but hey they living their lives :). WE were that young once!! And Im only 45 :)

I know the feeling as well - when my son left to go to school for 7 years. He came back, but only for a short time while he found his own place. Daughter left after she got married.

Interesting thing - I used to hear people say that they couldn't wait until their kids were grown and gone. I never understood that. It's the normal way of life and that makes it right, but I didn't look forward to it.

Congrat's to your Son, Pride in ones offsprings venturing into the future is always a joy. When our oldest left the nest the youngest moved right into his room (larger bedroom) and when that took place I moved right into (the babyboy) his room, made an office, put a coffee cup full of pensils on my desk and football stuff on the walls, my domain.....It is hard to see them go, especially for the wife, but I remember back when, It's a time for growth. I am very happy to see them visit, but I'm also happy when they leave.....Muhahahahaaaaa. I don't want to sound uncaring but I can't wait for the our BabyBoy to leave, it would mean he has grown and is able to stand on his own....and I can then have a closet to put my stuff in..:D

Re: Quiet,Lonely House Again

Thanks for the support everybody. We get calls and the wife and kids facebook but it is not nearly the same as having them close by.

We are looking forward to attending our daughter's graduation this December in San Jose'.

Add in the "Cabin Fever" and it seems even more desolate.
