I know a guy who has one that he wants to unload as he sold his boat.

I would be putting it on a maxum 1700 with mercruiser 3.0.

Is this a good idea?

if you get it cheap enough should be fine. If you don't like it you could sell it to recoup or keep for a spare. I think it wouldn't help you much unless you are into water sports - but then again i wonder when that shift comes in can the skier feel it. if you are just cruising a standard prop would be fine. I say all of this but I have never tried one...

I haven't had one either, but have seem then come around and have always passed. It's my perception that they need to be setup correctly to perform well, but if the price were right, I'd give it a shot to see how it performs. The 3.0L needs all the help it can get and the Power2 just may work great.

When you say "unload" what do you mean by that? I've seen them selling in the $300 range...

I don't know what he would sell it for. It seems like a nice setup. I wonder why they stopped making them?
