Quicksilver controls compatability with repower

I have an 1988 merc 115 2 stroke, I am repowering to a 2002 merc 125 saltwater. I am wondering if the controls are the same for both as the guy I am buying it from wants to keep his controls now.

Mechanical controls should work. Electrical is likely different, but I was unable to tell exactly. You should be able to graft a late model plug onto the early controls, if necessary, or perhaps Merc sells an adaptor.
