Quicksilver 4000 Controller Disassembly ??'s

I have searched the forum and come up empty handed. I am trying to install a Quicksilver 4000 P/N 883710 A02 on my boat to control my kicker motor, short story, I cant get the handle off to go about mounting it. I dont want to break the button, and I know it comes off somehow. Please advise. I have tried about every position I can rotate it to without success. I am using 2 flat heads on opposing sides simultameously while trying different angles on the shifter.

no dice, I see the exploded view, however the directions on how to remove the button are not there. Anyone on the removal of the button?

I am not sure on the 4000 but the 3000 handle has to be forward 1/4 to 1/2 way and two screw drivers on each side pop it out, It dont just jump out you think it is going to break before it comes out.

Ok just for future reference:
Put the throttle in neutral, just so you know where it is later when you reassemble
pull/pry the center button straight out
remove the 5/8 bolt (That is behind the button) holding the handle in
That will allow you to pull the handle off but if you want to remove it you will need to remove the small torx screws and split the handle in half so you can remove the trim switch and wiring

That's about it
