I have a Quicksilver 3000 series throttle that has an up and down trim switch (I don't know what model this is except it does not have a trailer switch). There are three wires coming from the switch (purple, green, and red which I assume is power).
I'm pulling my hair out trying to determine the cause of no switch power to the solenoid. I initially replaced the up solenoid on everyone's advice and I still had problems with the trim switch. It worked most of the time and then just ceased working altogether (no clicks, no and down).
I discovered a broken purple wire in the throttle which I fixed and the up solenoid worked again - for awhile. Again, the switch worked - until I got ready to go fishing and then nothing worked. I tested the red wire for power and got none (again, I'm assuming this is hot). I tested further up under the cockpit and got no power on the red wire ( I have no clue where it goes).
To solve the issue simply I ran a test wire from the battery compartment and tied it into the red wire coming from the switch. I tested the wire running into the switch and got power - but no response from the switch.
So..., am I correct in assuming that the red wire is power for the switch and the purple is up and green down? If so, is this a bad switch?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ed
