The service manual mentions using this lubricant in several areas. Is it an absolute must to use the Quicksilver branded lube? What else can be substituted?

For example the manual mentions using it on the splines of the drive shaft and the water tube in the drive shaft housing.

Thanks

Howdy,

well......a rather wise man once said: "Any grease is better than no grease at all...."
(I think it was Mark Twain or someone like that....)

Sorry, I guess that didn't answer your question;)

You could probably use any grease.....but 2-4-C doesn't cost all that much so I just use it.

I also use the Mercury spline grease they say to use in the coupler.

Rick
