quick temperature sender question...

I have a tempereature gauge I havent hooked up (Faria) and I want to buy a sender on my way home from work. so Im just wondering what the thread is on my motor so I buy the right one (I cant go look at the motor before I go to the store). is 1/4 or 1/8 NPT? thanks in advance.<br />1974 Johnson 85 HP

Can't be 100% sure about yous but most of them are 1/4NPT

Didnt the gauge come with a sender? Seems kinda odd. Anyway those senders fit into a little Z bracket and the bracket is held by one of the screws on the water jacket on the cylinder head.
