Quick Silver Lower Unit Lube Labeling???

Have a bottle of 'Premium" labeled Lower Unit Lube (maybe a year old) that says good for all lower units high or low horsepower.

Now I see the same "Premium" label on a Quick silver bottle that says for 75HP and lower.

On both old and new Premium bottles statement do not mix with 'High Performance" and visa versa. The high performance is for high horsepower but no reference where that starts.

So is the old Premium now not any good for moderate high HP engines such as a 150HP and one is not to use the 'new Premium" bottle in anything over 75HP?

You don't say what engine you want to put it in. High performance lube is nasty good stuff. Don't mix it with premium. They are completely different lubes.

In a high performance engine that puts extreme loads on small gears, it's well worth the extra money to run high performance lube in it. 75 or below, it doesn't make much difference except money.

I suspect the year old bottle in yer hand is a lot older than a year.

mercury came out with high-performance not too long ago, so they marketed premium as a low hp oil.. its the same stuff as before.

I kinda of let you know what engine it was by noting the 150HP, so the rest of the story is a 1999 XR6 150 carb.

Since I have been using what I suspect is the Premium version for about 11 years I will stick with that.

Thanks for the input
