Quick question on 50:1 from the pump...

I've never bought any premixed 50:1 fuel straight from the pump. Partly because I just want to be sure the mix is right, and the only way to know that is doing it myself. I got to wondering the other day though....how does the station keep the mix..mixed? (not many earthquakes around here to shake it up :p ) Is there an agitator in the underground tank to keep it mixed? Just wondering, not that i'm likely to change my ways anyway!

I have never heard of any premix 50-1 from the pump anywhere. Are you sure you did not see gas with the additive "valvetect" which has nothing to do with 2 stroke oil.Charlie

Nah...definitely 50:1. A marina I stop at quite a bit to paruse the tackle has it. One pump, 2 "grades", (one on each side of the pump). One side is regular (i think 87 octane) and the other side is 50:1 mix.

Howdy, JL.

I have used 50:1 premix from the pump at many resorts on LOTW. Always worked fine with the 2 strokes.

Once TC-W3 is mixed with the gas it is not going to settle out any more than the Drambuie would settle out from the scotch in a rusty nail. (Yum!)

Come to think of it, it is past noon and the bar is open. :)

AHA!! Well who could argue with an answer worded so well! :D

TO THE BAR MEN! (and ladies). We've got a very important scientific experiment to run

It's what they put in their own non-oil-injected 2 strokes and the guide boats, too, Oz.

They aint going to ruin their own engines and the guides' engines, now are they?

OZ has plenty of reasons to be oil shy, and I see too many variables there. Its probably allright, but I wouldnt personally use it. Plus, it has to be more expensive than doing it yourself.

Your call.

Premix has been around Florida since the 1960s and marinas everywhere pumped it. It started disappearing around my area in the 80s. I used it and never had or heard of problems...but the cost was way high compared to mixing yourself.

I dont think I would use it if it were offered here on Long Island.Im so paranoid of something not being mixed correctly that I had the oil injection system on my 150 ocean pro disconnected.I want to mix my own.Charlie
