I noticed yesterday at the lake that my motor didn't have any water coming out of the pee stream. I was curious if this is an impeller problem or something easy. Also would the motor overheat if there was no water coming out? The alarm never went off and I have had it go off before when I would have it hooked to a garden hose and it wasn't getting enough water so I know it's working. Just curious if it something that need immediate attention as I'm going on vacation this week and taking the boat and I need to know if I should get after it. Either way I'm going to look at it, but if its nothing serious I won't necessarily make it a priority before I leave.

Re: Quick Q about BF50

Alright so I figured I'd update everyone with my findings, for future reference. I did some research and reading and apparently this is fairly common for these motors. Apparently from normal usage, the motor will pick up sediment or other junk in the water and plug the tell-tale. Mine was easy, there is a brass fitting coming out of the side of the motor with a hose that goes to the little nozzle that sprays out water. This is where the clog was on mine. I took the hose completely off and I couldn't blow through it. I took an air compressor and blew the debris out. While I had the hose off I also blew through the fitting to make sure there wasn't anything clogging, and i could feel air coming through the pickup.

Some people have said to use a wire through the tell-tale nozzle, I wouldn't recommend that cause if there is major debris like mine that was keeping it from even spitting any water, then all you are doing is forcing it back through the mote, most likely causing it to try and come out again and clog it once more.

For those of you that this isn't the issue, you may try checking the thermostat. I've read that debris can keep this from opening and closing properly. If this is the case you are most likely having temp issues, whether it be too hot or cold, but it's worth a look.
