I need a quick spec of advice on replacing a 400 lower unit. Will a 1984 mechanical swap up wuithout issues a 1981 400. I have the 81, and a used 1984 is on ebay. <br /><br />Hope to hear good news as my lower croaked this morning on the lake while testing the last repair I tried on the boat. Put it in forward and the prop locked forward and reverse (on the trailer). Put the throttle in reverse and the O/D is in neutral.
