I find it hard to believe that nobody here has anything to say about post. It seems you guys can only answer the easy questions, some of which don't even belong in this area.

--------------------------------------------------

I recently purchased an older 16' boat that was on a galv. roller trailer. I shortened the tougue on the trailer in order for it to fit it in my garage. I had this done with the original trailer manufacturer. I am however having problems in the following areas.

1.)Below the winch, there is a rubber V that cannot be moved back any further because of a U-bolt and the boat no longer makes contact at this point when loaded on the trailer (I have noted that a lot of trailers like mine, do not have a support in this position). How do I tell if this support is important for my boat? The winch itself has 2 rubber Vs that hold the front of the boat snuggly in position.

2.)The tongue moved in overall by about 3". Would this make a change in the load rating for towing? According to the trailer manufacturer, it doesn't, but I want to be 100% sure.

3.)The trailer has 3 sets of rollers on each side. The very front set of rollers are loose when the boat is loaded, but it sits solid in transom rollers and the ones in from of them. It also sits solid in the very bottom roller that rests the V of the hull. Are the front set of rollers for guiding the boat onto the trailer only, or are they supposed to offer support in addition to the other rollers?

4.) I was thinking of getting a transom saver, but there is nothing to rest it on as the trailer has rollers. Is there another way of securing the motor for trailering, such that it minimises any bounce from the road (aside from driving slowly and avoiding bumps in the road).

5.)How tight should the transom straps be? Mine seem very tight (to me), but I would imagine straps that are too tight can be just as damaging as no straps at all.

Any advise is welcome as I am considering moving the trailer back into it's original position to avoid any problems.
