Please forgive me here, i am a true novice on this... i have a 15 hp sears gamefisher motor that i picked up from a neighbor. actually runs great. first... i believe it is a chrysler engine, but how would i be sure? also, i'm not sure what year it is... i've looked, but cannot find a year on it or serial number... how do i determine this? I've found online that it would have to be between '80 and '98. I'm assuming its a 1980 model, based on what i've found online. again, i'm new to this. this is actually my first motor and boat.

i need a replacement propeller, but i'm having a very tough time finding one. I can email a pic of the propeller (and the motor, if necessary) to anyone that can help. The propeller on the motor now is an after-market, i believe, and i cannot find anything like it. I've found online that the part number for the OEM propeller should be "fp408"... i think. "8 1/4" D X 8 1/4 P" is stamped into one of the blades, which i am assuming is the diameter and pitch. Anyone know where i can find a replacement?

Another question... it's a 2-blade prop, and i'm wondering if a 3-blade would help with thrust? boat runs smooth, but seems kind of weak (apart from the fact that it's only a 15hp!) and i'm wondering if a 3-blade propeller would help... I am seeing that there is a 3-blade that should fit? part number "48-fp70". (see http://www.properpitch.com/pdf/MWfcm.pdf). I've searched for either part number and no one seems to have in stock. also searched the "michigan wheel" part numbers and i'm not seeing where i can order. ?

sorry for the long post... thank you for any help you can give!!

Try calling these folks. They have a bizillion props at their place. The best way to find an off brand prop is to take it to a boat salvage yard and try to compare them. Most salvage yards are happy to do this.

American Outboard may be able to help you.

Yes, try some of the marine salvage yards as mentioned. Also check Ebay for 3 blade 8 1/4 by 8 1/4 props for Force 15 hp or 10 hp motors.US marine(Force) was the next owner of Chrysler outboards.I have the same outboard (1986 Force) and it has been great in the 15 years that I have owned it.It came with a 3 blade 8 1/4 by 8 1/4 prop. And yes, a 3 blade prop should give a little more thrust.Could you post a pic of your outboard ?And make sure you install a new impellar since this is a new motor to you.Iboats sells them very cheap for around 11 dollars.
