The boat is 2900lbs; is there a rule of thumb for the amount of weight the chain has to hold?Your bow should touch the roller and you need a safety chain for the bow. From the trailer frame to the bow eye.
I keep mine very tight to stop any bounce. The boat is 2900lbs; is there a rule of thumb for the amount of weight the chain has to hold?
also, should the winch strap be very tight?
I went to get gas and the thing was bouncing on the trailer like crazy. It just has the front winch strap and the back straps. The bow also isn’t touching the front roller. I’m paranoid of wrecking my new boat.
Is the bouncing normal?
does this look like it’s on far enough?

I see the V shape; but it didn't come with a ratchet strap. That's been rectified. I probably over ratchet strapped but that's just me.First thing to stop the bouncing, you need to winch the boat a few inches so the eye sits tight against/under the roller.
Second, your specific model does not use a safety chain. They use a ratchet strap from the bow-eye straight down to the V-shape loop on the trailer frame. (the loop is shown in your second pic).
below is best pic i have at the moment. Note the 1" strap, from the factory.
