PGMFI (multi port programmed fuel injection)

The fast idle lever or feature is said to be used to warm up the motor after a cold start faster.

Is it really needed? Does the motor cold start and idle satisfactory without using this feature?

Any input is appreciated.

Yes, page 57 in the new '07 BF90(d) owners manuel, online Honda's website.

And knowing fuel injection I thought this feature wasn't really needed.
I don't have my engine yet but I just installed my remote control and got two 12ft cables.
The shift control cable for the jetpump is the correct length but the fast idle cable needs to be 10ft, so I'll exchange that cable.
However, this is what got me to thinking, why a fast idle cable is needed?

Realize the shift control cable that runs to the shift gate on the pump has a short cable that runs from the gate to the throttle.
