Hello all. I just got my computer going with all the new goodies. I recently purchased(Yesterday) A boat witch I believe is An 86. It has A merc motor 4 140 hp cylinder. I was wondering if there is A valve adjustment for this kind of engine. It sounds kinda clattery like the valves are out of adjustment.
Thanks in advance :)

Re: question

I changed the oil today and it reguired quicksilver 25/40. I added 5 quarts with the change of the oil filter. Oil level at full mark.
It is the mercruiser 4 cylinder 140 hp motor with I believe an Alpha outdrive. It is an in board out board.

The kind of videos you really want to watch :)

Re: question

Is it a 3.7, big aluminum block with a cast iron head, or a 181/3.0, or a 153? The 3.7 is a 460 ford head, i don't think the rockers are adjustable, but could be shimmed. Same for the 181 & 153 I believe.
But before you mess with that, what is your oil pressure??
