Where is the calmest water on the lake for a 20 foot boat.
Trying to decide where to rent a cabin.
Any opinions of where to stay will also be helpful.

Anywhere past the 40 or so on the main channel, down either of the Niangua arms, or up the Gravois arm should work fairly well. Besides the typical "resorts" with cabins, don't overlook condo rentals.

If this is your first time to LOTO, do not be intimidated by the reputation of being rough water and dangerous. As long you are not talking about being there on a major holiday weekend, you'll find you are going to be just fine in your boat pretty much anywhere on the water. It's a great place, enjoy it!

Olde Phart's advice is excellent, but I just wanted to point out if you are talking about going to LOTO this time of year or later, you have nothing to worry about, and if you are going through the week you also have nothing to worry about.

Ditto the above reply about "little to worrry about."

We are based at approx. the 14mm and typically cruise to party cove and up to and around the Gravois. After the Labor Day weekend the traffic has fallen off dramatically.

Go and enjoy.

Re: Question regarding lake of the Ozarks

Ok, at tremendous personal sacrifice, I dropped the boat off the lift at 10:30am. It's a public service that I just felt I just had to do.

My cove was like glass with many bass boats working the creeks. I entered the Big Niangua at 2MM and headed to 28 MM on the Osage. The chop prevented me from going WOT but I never had to come off plane all the way to Millers Landing.

After a brief pause at Millers, I headed back to Four Corners and up to the Hurricane Deck bridge at 35MM Osage. Cleaner water on the way back as I raced to get ahead of a small cruiser's wake. I had to back off at Four Corners. It's always a washing machine there.

Passing 31MM, the water cleaned up nicely and I opened her up all the way to Hurricane Deck and back to Four Corners to the Big Niangua. After clearing the spinal compression test of Four Corners, I was able to open her up until I met a 40' cruiser at the narrows by 4MM BN. Massive wake, but no other traffic so I could adjust my line and stay on plane.

Having cleared the cruiser's wake, it was an easy WOT all the way to our cove spot on the Lil' Niangua. After a brief pause in the cove, it was WOT until I got back to 4MM. It only takes a little traffic to chop it up there.

Solid pace from 4MM to my quiet cove at 2MM BN to park the boat back on her lift.

Re: Question regarding lake of the Ozarks

Thanks Ninja. It is so nice to know that there are still people that are still willing to sacrifice their day for other people. You just do not find that commitment very much any more. You inspire me to do the same on Lake Livingston Texas,
Be back later.

Thank You
