I'm changing the wheel bearings on my trailer,an '89 Eagle. I have set the inner bearing in the hub along with a new race & seal. However, the bearing is not snug inside the hub. I can **** it over with no problem. Is the bearing supposed to be snug inside the hub, or does the spindle hold it in place? I'm sure it's the correct bearing. I can't compare with the other side as I don't have it off yet. Anyone know?

Re: Question on wheel bearings

There is some gap between the seal and the bearing itself. YOu are correct -the spindle will hold it in place when you put the last part, which is the nut at the end of the installation.

as long as you press in the bearing races FLAT it should adjust up fine

if there is a problem it would be lose after you adjust the nut correctly
