When I take the cover off I noticed that there is nothing securing the oil level sensor to the resovoir. It looks like there should be a cap or soemthing to hold it down. I am afraid that if I fill the resovoir it will all leak out when I tilt it up out of the water. I can lift the sensor our of the resovoir without unscrewing or unlatching it.

Is this normal or is there something missing here?

The engine is a '92.

Re: Question on Tohatsu M40d

The sensor itself has a built in rubber grommet. If the tank has swollen or the grommet has shrunk you need to buy a new tank or sensor.
