Question on milling a part

Hi all,

I've searched for a NEW inner exhaust cover for my small outboard(6R72D), and every suplier says obsolete, I can find used ones, but they look to be in the same shape as mine, so I'll have one milled(alot of machine shops in my town).

Does anyone think it would hurt to have one made that is twice as thick as the original?

Well, it is going to move the throttle control lever outward by the same distance. I don't know how much effect that will have. Maybe none.
