I am new here after finding this diagram, it is very helpful. But one thing confuses me. I have a 12v trolling motor. I have been trying to figure out whether too hook my accessories up to my deep cell battery with my trolling motor, or my starting battery. I get different answers everywhere I look. This diagram shows starting battery, but some say this constant load on a starting battery is bad for it. And some say hooking a fishfinder along with trolling motor will give fishfinder interference.

Your fishfinder should be on the starting battery.

Re: Question on linxlvr's wiring diagram

Thank you, and I just want to clarify. If I wire as in the diagram, the fish finder, light and livewel pump all on the starter battery won't be too much of a load for longer periods of time? Sorry to be redundant, just want to get it right. When I bought it a couple months ago it had everything (including the starter) hooked to a deep cell, which I hear is possible but not the best.

Re: Question on linxlvr's wiring diagram

There is nothing wrong with hooking your locator to the troller battery. If you have interference move it. If not, nothing gained nothing lost. My walleye boats and my pontoon have all had the forward locator connected to the troller and none of them ever had any interference. My console mounted locator is connected to the starting battery, as are all the other accessories. If you are worried about starting issues, carry a small jump start box or a set of jumper cables so you can jump the start battery from the troller.
