Question on leaf plate

Took carburetor off for rebuilding (again) and looked inside intake manifold. I noticed a white(ish) rectangle about 1/2" wide X 1" high (see pic). I presume this is normal and something that is supposed to be there. Not that familiar with 2-stroke engines and wanted to check.

I looked at the intake manifold diagram and didn't see it listed as a separate part.

This is on a 2000 Johnson 4 HP.

It is the reed valve Very normal in 2 strokes.

If you look at the shop evinrude it is in the intake manifold picture.

You are just showing your learning curve ..... not ignorance

You should see the reed valves in a V-4 or V-6
