Question on Anchor pulpit

Trying to figure out if there is something missing from my anchor pulpit. My anchor just doesn't seem to sit tight against the pulpit when it is fully up. The anchor line goes off to the Starboard side a bit into a little covered hole. And then there is a line attached to the anchor itself that wraps around a cleat to pull tight....but doesn't seem snug enough and the anchor ends up swinging a bit. There is a knot on the very end of the line where it connects to the anchor, so I wonder if maybe that is just in the way of it being fully tightened and I just need to attach a new line and tie it in better. I don't want it to be smacking into the gel coat underneath and causing damage, so trying to figure it out. Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Short of buying a anchor with a shorter " shank " , [ not sure what the correct terminology is ], you can either have a hole drilled in it so the safety line is pulling it tight and it is still attached to the main line at the end of the shank. The distance in the gap underneath the pulpit appears to be longer that the gap on attaching point. Guess it depends on how much you use your anchor. I have not used mine in the last 10 years. I also have a cable with a cinching clamp on it to draw it tight and secure it better than the line on your set up.

Judging from the photo's it looks to me like the anchor is being pulled a little to srbd by a combination of the 2 forces , Chain and Safety Line.
If it were me I would loosen up on the chain (by a link) and tighten up on the safety line. add a stainless plate or possibly a shock absorbing rubber , under the pulpit for the anchor to wedge into, thus achieving tightness and not injuring the gelcoat . You don't want that thing banging around in rough sea's. Good Luck and keep us informed on your progress.
ALSO: mr 88 is correct, you could start looking for an anchor with a shorter SHANK.

+1 with Mr 88. Another hole in that anchor shank so you can pull it up into the pulpit seat and keep it snug with the safety line on the cleat while leaving the chain and rode attached to the shank end. Alternative, pull it in tight by hand and measure where the end is a few inches shy of the cleat, mark the "new end" and have the shank cut and a new end hole drilled. Or, new anchor of proper size and shank length.

Got an anchor with a shaft that was about 3 inches shorter. (Luckily had one in the garage). Works PERFECTLY! Thanks for all the help and suggestions!
